A: The area of Cerros Sands at La Playa de Cerros Maya has a unique advantage over islands in the Caribbean because it is not an island, and it is protected by the Ambergris Caye, a 27 mile long island 1 mile west of coral reef formation and about 30 miles to the East of the shores of Cerros Sands at La Playa de Cerros Maya.
The outer edge of the reef acts as a natural barrier, protecting the islands inside of it. Cerros Sands at La Playa de Cerros Maya is a protected peninsula and is the only mainland area in Belize to have a major body of land directly blocking any weather emanating from the Caribbean. Since records have been kept, we know of no storms or hurricanes that have had significant impact on Cerros Sands at La Playa de Cerros Maya.

A: The rainy season is usually from June through October. The most pleasant months are December to April. Keep in mind, although Cerros Sands at Playa de Cerros Maya is only a short drive to the Rain Forest areas, it is NOT in the Rain Forest. Flooding and excessive rainfall are experience primarily in the south of the country.
